What We're Taught Isn't Always Right.

Life
is a lesson away from sanity
I love the above quote
because it is really amazing honest
actually
honest as honest could ever be
because we are rarely
ever honest
with ourselves much less others.

Quality
they say is so much better
than quantity
this is one of those lessons that
runs into the brick wall
known as another lesson taught to children
that doesn't stick
because lessons are taught
without doing.

We accept
deal with the cards dealt
that that is just the way things go
take your pill
and be so very happy when
so many have nothing at all.

Admit or don't
pretend that all is peachy keen
life is a bowl of cherry
pits...but hell you had to eat the cherries
right...no one eats the pits
walk no really just run
because you never want to be the
only one sitting
at the table
to be served.

Good Morning America - How Are You?

A winter storm
came through the city last night
leaving behind a winter wonderland and
making the apricot tree
use foul language
as it tried to retract its little flower buds.

My kiln is ramping up
which means I turned it on and
it is climbing up to 950 degrees which is the
temperature that my glass
needs to release the stress of the heat
from my torch.

So what am I doing
this beautiful snow covered morning?
I am making hollow birds
At this point [2 days of experimenting]
I have learned a lot
about pulling a bird out of a round
hollow bead.

Now you may ask what exactly
is a hollow bead
or more particularly how you make them
and why...why is because you
can get a very large round bead with little glass
and no weight.

Pulling out the head and tail
from a hollow bead works only if you
can not 'pop' that hollow bead
because the 'air' inside is important much
like a balloon.

So...my book is at about 190
which is on the shorter side of my books
but I will end it today or tonight
before going back into the story and editing
in or out
parts of the story.

Life is good when it snows
when you work on something that excites you
and when the coffee is hot!

The end of February frozen in time.

No More Sex!

[update:  Google changed their mind so we can go back to normal]

oh blogger
new rules in bloggerville
no more sex...no more naked cowboys
no more explicit shots
shall be spread across your blog.

I am amazed
that they were ever allowed
but then with the 9 zillion trillion quadruplie little blogs
that I never see or wonder about
there must be a few that are just down right
snap...
about sex, about no sex, about showing...
well that's their gig I guess
but you know sex sells
what it sells is more sex so sex
begets sex begets more sex begets "whoa"
who posted that sex.

I can sum up sex in just one blog
it's what it is
whatever
you know it is sex.

So I won't be posting anything
else that would be considered most inappropriate
in the world of blogging!!

It's About Expression

they say 'always watch their eyes'
when you are standing in the dusty old street
legs spread and fingers twitching
as the seconds tick, tick, tick in your ears
like the metallic sound
of the old clock

has anyone told you that you don't
have a poker face
when they are telling you something and stop
dead
in the midst of their thought
because what your face is telling them is not
the right response?

It is sometimes hard to write
that look, the dead silence between
characters without just putting out the obvious.
I think being a screenwriter is so much easier
you get the dialogue down
and for the background you can just say
'dead silence'.

Needs No Words!

but of course you know I can't no use words for a picture
though it is worth a thousand words
could be misinterpreted
by another.

I love art that is words
quotes that are painted in the most unexpected places
that make us ponder or maybe just smile
for a moment.

Sitting at the truck stop this morning
waiting for breakfast in a room full of hungry people
with an understaffed waitress
I formed a new project.

Does it involve cowboys
no those only feed my passion for writing
and I have no idea why I love cowboys so much
I just accept it.

So in the midst of a normal Sunday morning
I formed a new idea, I found this wonderful saying in a gallery
I formed an ocular migraine
[they don't hurt just make you think you ate the wrong mushrooms]
and now I must decide...

what do to with this day!

4th Anniversary!

Second time around
life is always a lot more fun
not to take away from the first trip around the track
but you aren't quite the same the second time.

All I can say is that
there are fairies and leprechauns
there is hope at the end of the rainbow
and it takes a special person to make you step out
of your shell and enjoy life!

Special thanks to my husband
for making the last four years some of the best
that anyone could dream of...
from the foothills to the crème brulee
life is a bowl
of chocolate bread pudding!

Thank you Lewis!

Writing Is Not a Straight Line

My new book is the sequel to John Ellery's Daughters
and it was a slow start as I tried to write
something else but eventually just dove into the second book
but at about 100 pages I took a minor
character and made him a major character
so I went back to the beginning of the story and started
forming this character
so that when he crosses paths with the sisters
it is richer.

I am at page 188 with getting the story down
but the rewrite will probably gut the problems that slow
down the story and put in far more detail
where it needs it.

Writing is a strange experience unlike my off the cuff
poetry/prose that I never revise
writing a story comes from a place where my
feelings live freely and love
to be turned into stories I shall never live except
in my mind.

So if you are waiting for Book II of the Ellery Daughters
have patience for I am writing...

Valentine's Day Free Download

I am bundling thoughts today
for I love Valentine's Day and every year want to buy
a box of the little cards with the paper thin
envelopes
pick up a red pen and write my love of life
across the day...just put them
under people's windshield wipers or
on shelves of stores...
an anonymous greeting and hug.

Book II - Texas 1863-1869
will be a free download on Kindle this Friday, Saturday and Sunday
for Valentine's Day.

I love romance...I love spontaneous
coupling of people for no reason than the day is
February 14th...no reason other than that.

My husband is planning to take me to Paris
[though not on Valentine's Day]
to go up the Eiffel Tower
for nothing more than it is romantic
and we are that in love.

It is strange to reach this part of my life
and be so overwhelmed with his ability to share his feelings
and make me feel like a sixteen year old.

So whether you share the day with another
whether you want flowers or candy
remember to take a moment to 'love' life
to its fullest.

Tucson In February

Like Albuquerque - Tucson's weather during February is always
a surprise.  This year it is seasonally warm and dry [it wasn't so last week]
which makes half the clothes I brought unnecessary.

Tucson is the home of the Gem and Minerals Shows
and spans over almost 2/3 of the month of February where
the vendors and buyers come from around the world...

but this year a totally all glass art/bead show is being held
that is bringing together all of the glass artists
who have been scattered across fifty show areas in Tucson
into one location...

The upside is spending time with great friends and artists
who work in glass and to talk with customers who have a love
for glass art.

Of course, I found a Korean baseball team
who practice in Tucson for the winter.  I wanted to buy
one of their baseball caps or get a ball signed
but the "managers" looked like they would stop me if I asked.

Sigh...

So we are here and we are having a blast.
