Novel #11 - My Wild Irish Rose on Kindle

MY WILD IRISH ROSE

My 11th Fiction Novel is live on Kindle tonight

Boston 1908
Samantha’s Journey

The dreadful morning started as her nanny headed down to get the lunch tray.  Samantha acknowledged the cool softness of the cut glass knob as she opened her bedroom door with both hands and peeked out into the hallway.  As she leaned on the banister on her tippy toes trying to listen to the voices coming from the library, she wondered what her father was doing but the words made no sense.  Samantha walked quietly down to her father’s room and put her hand on the doorknob when it suddenly opened making her fall back tangled in her gown.
Her father looked at her briefly as his eyes went from anger to sheer sadness.   He bent over and picked her up taking her back to her room as the nanny came up the staircase with the tray.  He went back down to the library as his banker and law partner sat working on the details of the documents.
Weary of life but unable to change fate, Theo Danley at the end of an exhausting day climbed the stairs a man on his deathbed.  He opened his daughter’s door and looked across the room.  Her dollhouse was sitting on the floor with the little people tucked into their beds, all of her dolls were lined up on the shelves dressed in their best dresses and bonnets and her books were stacked on her table with her favorite on top.  The room was frilly and romantic as only a little girl’s room could be.  He walked over to the window seat and sat down watching her.  She was dressed in black satin and was hugging her little brown bear.  Her shoes had dropped on the floor haphazardly and still buckled.  Samantha’s little silk socks were askew and partway off.  Her long lashes rested against her cheeks and her little lips pursed just like her mother’s.
Theo struggled with what would happen to her and where she would go in life.  He stood up and slid his arms under her as Mr. Boo fell away.  Samantha’s eyes fluttered as she looked into her father’s.  “Daddy, get Mr. Boo.”
“I will darling.  It’s time to go to sleep.”   Theo walked over to her big bed and crouched down as she sat on the edge just barely awake as he undressed her.
            “Daddy.”
            “What sweetheart.”
“Mr. Boo and I wished upon a star that you would be happy again.  Do you think God will grant my wish daddy?”
“Shhh…”  Theo pulled back the covers before he walked over and picked up the bear tucking them both into bed.
            “Daddy.”
            “What darling?”
“I love you so much that my little heart can’t hold it all.”
Theo kissed her forehead and smiled.  “And no man will ever love you as much as I do.”
As the sun rose, Samantha was put into the carriage with her nanny as her father stood in his library watching.  She turned to him and waved throwing him a kiss.  He caught it and slipped it into his pocket as the tears ran down his cheeks.

Hot Weather No Appetite

The dog days of summer
I don't like hot weather at all
even if I am soaking in a nice pool or down
at the beach
I don't, really I don't.

I am in the midst of purging
my back glass studio
it is over crowded with stuff that I don't use
stuff that I will never use
so out it goes.

I am trying to sell
my large executive desk that
is a mammoth in the small office room
and hopefully for enough
for a new laptop.

I know the old saying
get rid of something and you will
need it the next day
I think I over buy
spontaneously purchase.

That being said
the heat has slowed me into a gear
that is under first more like
school zone gear
so tonight it's salad.

The Winds of Time Always Changing

Waiting for breakfast
it is my favorite and least favorite meal
because it is always about the eggs
I don't particularly like
eggs...they are okay if you soak them with hot sauce
or cook with cheese...lots of cheese.

This week has been about
running errands...to and fro I go getting
a new phone .... see how nice it takes a selfie...
new nerdy glasses...and damn if my
hair isn't growing out natural.

I am in the countdown for a trip
to Paris
I have to get my suitcase fixed
look for the plug adaption thing you need
putting places on Google map
and knowing I need a list
because I am going to forget something.

Do I take the leather jacket
or the fur lined leather jacket...no I don't think
it is real fur because no one has yelled at me
but we're travelling light
and have a great, great apartment not
far from the river.

I am hoping it comes with great
French movie music that will follow us...
oh, yeah, I can just upload it
but despite my excitement about this trip
I have done a final edit
on the new story.

It was funny because somewhere
in my dreams last night
I wrote a passage that was incredibly first class
I mean the best I've ever written
and I thought
"that was just fantastic"
but I don't remember what I wrote.

But now that I know I can write
I can at least strive to put out a book with no errors
and capture that talent that does
not like to see the light of day
maybe a week in Paris will give me inspiration
for where else do you find romance?

Stick Figures

I never understood the love of having stick people on the back of your car but then I hate bumper stickers and pin stripping and flames and such on my cars.  I live that very simple paint job where I remain anonymous as possible despite the fact that my cd/radio is usually on "are you 18 years old" volume.

That changed when on FB someone posted the coolest glass depiction of stick people...combining it with my love of Darth Vader and the Empire.  I bought this and it will be put on the back of the PT below my "Eagles" decal that is dead center of the hatch window.  Let the force be with you!!

Sex Sells!!

We don't really need to discuss the fact that Sex sells
because that has been our lives
across the world or maybe around it
women have been considered the lesser of the only two sexes in the world
well maybe there are other but we have a great divide
the man...the woman
The word Sex comes from the Latin word Sexus
meaning division
After the great debate [not] where it was
wack a mole to get Trump to make some gaff that would turn
the people away from supporting him
the sexists set him up with a plan and he accommodated them
but when you swim in a pool of sexism
a faux news program that drips with sexism even
from the women
and you are trying to expose a known sexist
you should not then put on a sweet smile and feign outrage
when the alligator bites off your leg
the sign said 'Beware'
but with all the bullet holes you probably
just couldn't read it could you?
I like Donald Trump
I know that might be a contradiction in my beliefs
but I like him because he is who he is
and I respect an honest person more than the wolf
in sheep's clothing with the look of shock
plastered on their perfect little faces
as inside their heads
they are dancing the victory dance for scoring one for the Gipper
to expose the hypocrisy of the sexist
is to expose the air that takes up space between their ears
damn the torpedoes
we're taking on water in the arena
if you want sex from a woman it works better
if you treat her like your equal...
and trust me the sex with an intelligent engaging woman
is mind blowing!!
