Albuquerque and Balloons

Today is the first day of Balloon Fiesta 2015
which is a 10 day event
and around 800 balloonist who descend on the valley
along with 880,000 visitors
and 100,000 residents who crawl out of bed
at 5:00 am

We sat in traffic - there's only five miles
between the house and the 100 acre Balloon Fiesta Park
but it took us 2 hours of sitting to get near
the park but if you are not on the field
by 6:30 you don't get to enjoy the actual filling of the balloons

With that in mind
I got out of the van and took as many photos
as I could while walking with the slow
moving traffic
so we decided to not go into the actual park
which would have taken another hour
even though we could see it

The morning required coffee
with hot apple fritters on the back road
where the view of the rising
balloons were fantastic

I don't know if we'll try again because
I don't do mornings well
but we will probably balloon chase if they
come over the house

Welcome to October and Albuquerque
an event that fills the heart of every child no matter
how old!

this one is my favorite this year!!
