Score at the Restore

I love ironwork...it is primal and cool.  So after filing my taxes, hitting the bank and drug store we decided to spontaneously go through the Habitat Restore just to see if anything of interest was available.

There in the stack of doors and windows were three wrought iron rusty dirty poles for $45 [for all three]  Four would have been nice but thank you to whoever removed them and donated them to Habitat.

We have no idea why we wanted them or what we would do with them but first they must be cleaned and sprayed.  [A metal worker in the store told us to use the spray for barbecue grills]  We are going to redo the center of the yard where we have the bird baths so we will design something to incorporate them in that project.  We'll need to find something for the top that is not solid but is bird friendly.  Then I'll plant climbing vines [maybe morning glories] that will soften it and be inviting to the birds.

I am excited about this project and will post as we go along.  It will be one of our two summer yard projects this year.
